About the event

Adire Patterns is back! and this time, we are taking over Lagos!  If you haven't heard about our training, check out our instagram page @AdirePatterns

We are open source. This means, we share everything we know, we don't believe in keeping knowledge to ourselves, in fact, we practice quite the opposite.

In this intensive 2-day adire workshop, you will be confidently equipped with the skills to practice Adire immediately you finish the course, and you will gain all the tips and tricks of the trade from experts so that you don't have to make the mistakes that many beginners experience.

All of the materials will be provided for you and you'll be awarded with a certificate upon completion. The only thing you'll be required to bring is your packed lunch (however lunch is also available on site for purchase).

Register for one of our Dember workshops:

  • Sat 4 - Sun 5 Dec
  • Sat 11 - Sun 12 Dec
  • Wed 15 - Thu 16 Dec

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What will we learn over the two days? You will be learning Adire Alabela commonly known as batik (wax resisit method) and contemporary tie-dye methods.  You will also learn how to test and source for materials, and you'll get the opportunity to ask all the burning business questions you have such as where to purchase materials, how much does should they cost, how much can you charge when selling etc.
  • Where is the training taking place? Ikate - Lekki. Olori Art Foundation (available on google maps) is situated behind Nike Art Gallery, on Josemaria Escriva.
  • What materials do I need to bring? None, all the materials will be provided for you, just bring your packed lunch
  • What materials will we be learning with? Cotton brocade
  • Is accommodation provided? No.  This is a day course, class begins at 9am sharp on each day and ends by 4pm, however you are welcome to work until 8pm.
  • Can I pay on the day? Payment is required upon registration. Registration is not confirmed until payment is made.  Please note availability is limited, we take no more than six students per workshop.
  • I am already experienced in tie-dye, is it worth me attending? Absolutely, Batik requires a lot more skill which you will benefit from learning over the two days
  • I am not available for the both days, can I still attend one day? The two days are mandatory, however, as long as you complete day 1 and day 2 in December (even if its with seperate cohorts as we will be running several workshops in December) you will gain a certificate of completion
  • Will we be learning how to make stamps? Not in this course, we will be running a stamp making class seperately
  • Is this the same as Adire Project 2021? No it is not.  Adire Project 2021 is a 3 day course not limited to batik.  We will resume training in 2022
  • Will you be offering this 2-day course in January? No
  • Is there a discount? This is a set fee that covers the cost of materials and training . We take learning very seriously, and the quality of the training you receive on courses designed by Adire Patterns Ltd cannot be matched.  Visit our instagram page (@AdirePatterns) and contact our past Adire Project 2021 students to find out their first-hand experience.
